first of all let me just say that Lisa has been digging in her big red bag for everything since we got here, making all kinds of noises, and today she threw away her phone card and brought her empty water bottle to the phone booth. I'm just sayin'. . .
Now about art: just a couple quick thoughts.
First of all, it is so apparent here that the great works only utilize technical skill but the skill does not define them. When we are in the galleries the works of the great masters fly off the walls and those of the lesser masters fade in comparison and it has little to do with technique. I wish the kids could really see that in the books. Whatever it is that makes me want to stare at a work and draws me into it is intangible.
Secondly, Leaving David today was like leaving a lover. I just had to walk away at some point because no amount of time in his presence would have been enough. And I did not feel that way at all about the copy outside the Borgello. Can't explain that. Again, intangible.
Now about feet: they are still killing me. (Anne)
